The iPhone makes waiting in line so much more enjoyable…
I just purchased music from Apple for the first time. The iPhone has made me appreciate the ease and pleasure of using the iTunes store.

It looks like I’m going to be stuck on a .5mbit up/down connection for another week. :(

Myself and a colleague were quoted in eWeek magazine this week by Darryl Taft regarding Rails 2.0 - http://tinyurl.com/yrtsxo (see page 2)
After a 13.5 hour drive on Saturday, I’m back in Maine. Just in time to see an additional foot of snow fall.
Duraflame Cleaner than Real Wood?
Just saw a Duraflame Log commercial on the tele — it’s claiming that burning a Duraflame Log is cleaner and better for the environment than burning real wood. That seems weird to me… although a quick google seems to confirm their claim. Odd.

Caribou Blend coffee (French pressed) is, in fact, quite good.
I was just contacted by a reporter from eWeek magazine for my thoughts, comments, and opinions on Rails 2.0. Perhaps a quote will be used?

Acts_as_authenticated to RESTful Authentication
I just finished converting an existing application with a bunch of custom methods from acts_as_authenticated to restful_authentication. It took a good portion of the day — but I managed to get it done without major complications and with full Rspec coverage.
If you plan on doing this, it takes longer than you think - especially if you’ve customized your authentication system.

IT’S SNOWING IN VIRGINIA!
Over a foot of snow fell in Maine yesterday - I’ll be moving there on the 15th. Just in time for a cold northern winter.
Just poured some quality time into my electric guitar. After a much needed intonation it sounds better than the day I bought 11 years ago.
Nodebox Color Library
This looks incredibly cool. _why is always finding neat things.
“I’m talking about commands like range which describes a certain crossection of the rainbow. You can then randomly select colors from the range. Or pull a color’s complementary. Or build a drop shadow or lighting effect from the color. And, beyond that, you can group set of color ranges into a theme.”

Ruby on Rails advanced tagging plugin -... →
A great new Ruby on Rails tagging plugin by the folks at Intridea, acts_as_taggable_on offers advanced tagging features not found in other tagging plugins, including the ability to add an arbitrary number of sets of tags to each model. Each set of tags can be used independently, or you can refer to the whole collection of tags across sets.
Moving to Maine on the 15th - I better start packing.

Where has all the progress gone.
I stumbled upon an article regarding a few of the amazing things Nicola Tesla was able to accomplish 100 years ago.
“Tesla spent his remaining funds on his other inventions and culminated his efforts in a major breakthrough in 1899 at Colorado Springs by transmitting 100 million volts of high-frequency electric power wirelessly over a distance of 26 miles at which he lit ...

Lowpro, Prototype, Scriptaculous [object text]
When using these three javascript libraries together you may run into a problem where you try to update an element and instead of having your content show up you get [object text] instead.
You can fix it by commenting the following out of your lowpro.js file:
String.prototype.toElement = function() { return DOM.Builder.fromHTML(this); };
I encountred this in lowpro 0.4.1 — it may be...
