Dying MBP 17in (dead video cards)
Yeah, my MBP 17in died two weeks ago, sent it in for repairs outside of warrenty and they repaired it for free - it’s a known issue with a bad batch of NVIDIA chipsets - logic board replacement does the trick. Just make sure to create an admin acccount and give them the password so they don’t wipe your machine ;)

Compile Ruby 1.9.1 on OSX along-side 1.8 →
Install the first official/stable release of Ruby 1.9 (Ruby 1.9.1-p0) harmlessly alongside Ruby 1.8 on OSX. This will install the Ruby 1.9 executables as ruby19, irb19, etc so as not to harm your existing installation.

Picked up this book at the PWM bookstore en route to BWI. Thought I was actually getting Outliers (which is the one I actually wanted to read) — but couldn’t remember the title at the time. Talent is Overrated is overrated, long winded, and lacks excitement:

Can't Hide Quicksilver's Dock Icon?
Grant yourself read/write access to /Applications/Quicksliver/Contents/Info.plist and restart the app. Your checkbox to hide the dock should be enabled in Quicksilver’s preferences.
Autotest Hangs with RSpec
Make sure you don’t have an empty spec hanging around. I was in the middle of creating a new spec and was side-tracked by (gasp) “real life” and forgot about the blank spec when I returned.
